Wilson Statement on 61st Anniversary of India’s Independence

WASHINGTON August 15, 2008 – Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement today on the 61st Anniversary of India’s Independence.

“As co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, I wish to congratulate India on over 60 years of independence. As the largest Democracy in the world, India has become an ally of the United States in the fight against terrorism and in pursuit of greater prosperity for the citizens of our two great nations. I am particularly proud of the progress that has been made on the civilian nuclear energy agreement between the United States and India. I look forward to seeing this agreement approved and adopted and our strategic relationship strengthened in the years ahead.”
