Wilson Statement on Nuclear Suppliers Group Decision

WASHINGTON, September 8, 2008 – Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement after the Nuclear Suppliers Group’s recent announcement that they had waived their opposition to a civilian nuclear agreement between the United States and India.

“Nuclear energy will be an important part of the future energy needs of both the United States and our ally India,” said Rep. Wilson. “In a global economy, expanding a safe and reliable energy resource like nuclear energy means our two nations will be stronger competitors. I am pleased that this agreement is moving forward and hopeful that Congress will address this issue soon.”
